How to use this calculator

  • Enter the total wall area in square feet (length × height per wall, added up, minus large windows/doors if you like).
  • Set waste — 10% for solids and small prints, 20–30% for large pattern repeats.
  • Add the price per roll for a cost estimate.

The math behind it

Rolls = wall area × (1 + waste) ÷ 56 sq ft per US double roll, rounded up. Always round up — partial rolls can’t be returned and dye lots differ between print runs.

FAQs

How much wallpaper do I need for one accent wall?

A 12×8 ft accent wall (96 sq ft) with 15% pattern waste needs 2 double rolls. Buy all rolls from the same dye lot — the lot number is printed on the label.

Why does pattern size change how much I need?

Large repeats force you to cut each strip so the pattern aligns, wasting the offcut. A 24-inch repeat can easily waste 25–30%; a solid or random texture wastes almost nothing.
